Katie Newhouser has been a 15-year veteran UPS driver. Katie loves to greet the dogs oin her route with treats and hugs. That’s how she befriended Leo, her client’s a friendly pit bull from Rancho Cucamonga, California.
Apparently, Katie and Leo formed a solid bond with each other over many years. Katie shared that whenever she’d turn up at the complex, he’d go crazy, and he’d want to come down and see her.
Leo would also jump into her truck. Even if she had to leave, he didn’t want to get out, Katie said.
“He’d always come up and lick me.”
One day, Katie was devastated when she learned that the doggie’s human, Tina had passed away. Tina leaving behind the grieving Leo all alone.
Katie knows that Tina’s son, Canon, was far away on active marine duty, so Katie was worried about Leo’s well-being because she knows that he had nowhere to go. She didn’t want him to end up in a shelter, and with somebody who was not going to be good for him, Katie said.
Katie decided to foster him until Canon got back from his duty. At his new home, Leo’s easy-going nature made him soon became an inseparable part of Katie’s household.
Some days, before falling asleep, Leo would terribly miss Tina and sob like a little baby. Fortunately, Katie always bathes him with love and support, and his new siblings always also cheered him up with their love.
Eventually, Katie adopted Leo and gave him the forever home that he deserved. Leo’s wide smile had returned, bless the doggie’s heart!
